Overview

The Senior Accountant prepares and maintains accounting records which may include general accounting, cost, or budget data. Examines, analyzes and interprets accounting records for the purpose of giving advice or preparing statements. 

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

  • Record and review routine transactions in all phases of accounting.
  • Reconcile monthly bank accounts.
    Assist in monthly G/L close process.
  • Prepare various financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, etc.
  • Develop Excel models used in cash and revenue forecasting. 
  • Perform financial analyses and make recommendations to management.
  • Recommend methods and procedures to improve the functioning of the accounting area. 
  • Partner with other departments to ensure accounting compliance.
  • Review income statements and balance sheet accounts at month-end for all transactions on assigned project numbers; research variances and resolve issues
  • Ensure all recorded transactions are in accordance with GAAP or other required accounting standard. 
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process.

Qualifications

  • -5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • Proficient user in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas and macros.
  • Great Plains and Frx experience preferred. 
  • FAS Software experience preferred.
  • Detail oriented and organized. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice.
